Hungarian Transylvania Kalotaszegi Irasos Embroidered 2 White Hearts Pillow

Original pillow hand embroidered in the traditional style of the Hungarians of the Kalotaszeg region of Transylvania. This style of embroidery, for which the region is well known, is called "irasos, " meaning written. This pillow features white cotton embroidery on natural heavy hemp/linen, with a crochet edging. The central motif is of 2 hearts, filled in with and surrounded by flowers. The yarn ties in 2 places at the top, but these are not actual openings. In good condition no stains or breaks.

The embroidery thread is somewhat uneven in color. The pillow itself is firm.
